A couple of weeks ago my good friend Ross married his girlfriend Jess, I had the honour of providing best man duties both leading up to and on the day. Just setting the scene here…

Over here you’ll see a post I wrote a couple of years ago with photos of our wedding rings – and over here you’ll see a post I wrote complaining about how many people keep stealing that photograph. So that’s the scene set then – I took a photo and it gets nicked a lot. Quite simple really. Oh, and there is a wedding as well.

When we sat down for dinner, I was slightly surprised to see that the wedding favours, which were chocolate bars, had a familiar looking photo on them… To prove to myself I wasn’t losing my mind I even checked my website on my phone and confirmed it was indeed a familiar photograph.

I just assumed Ross had used the photo off my website, but apparently not – the company that makes these choccies has only bleeding well nicked the photo of me, and can be added to the long and growing list of perpetrators who have committed this terrible infraction.

Which begs the question, just what are the chances that my best mate would choose my photograph from a bunch of available options, for his wedding favours, for the wedding at which I was best man? I reckon eleventy bazillion to one.

Does it make me feel any better? Well it’s flattering he chose my photo but it’s pretty annoying that this company made all the money out of it and I didn’t get a penny.

The swines.

In an unrelated note, here’s a photo of the glass roof at John Cabot’s palace of gin and piss in Bristol (i.e. shopping center). I made this photo with a phone, amazing I know. Phones are dead clever these days.

As I said before, Last weekend I stumbled around the more picturesque areas of Cornwall along with my good lady wife and our excellent travel companions Phil and Laura.

They patiently waited whilst I periodically plucked not one, not two but three different cameras out of my bag and pointed them all around like a goon with the obvious expectation that if I just took enough photos at least one of them might actually turn out good. Six rolls whizzed through my Holga and the Leica got a bit of a pounding too.

As these are the easiest to process, first up come these pseudo polaroids taken with my iPhone. The full travel report will follow when I can be bothered to write it and sort all the other photos out.

Mmmmmm Ale.

The beach at St. Ives.

The harbour at St. Ives.

On the road to Penzance.

Double Yellows.

The harbour at Penzance.

The roof at Penzance Station.

So there you go then, loads of bad quality mobile phone pictures, can life really get any better than this? Seems to me it can’t, but I’ll have to wait till my Holga slides come back from processing, which wont happen until I’ve sold another kidney to afford how it will cost to develop all that film.

So after much consideration I went and got myself an iPhone. Much as I’ve always wanted to hate them, now that I actually have one I realise it’s actually flipping great and by association therefor so am I. Even greater than I ever was. Oh yes.

It’s missing TomTom which my last phone had, but I hear that is on the way. Other than that the whole phone experience is just leagues ahead of anything else I’ve had.

Best of all, I get to dust off my old DJ headphones and put them back to work on my head pushing music into my ears.

iPhone with MDRV700 headphones.

Also someone showed me this funky Polarize application which makes pictures look like they were taken with a polaroid camera.

Enough of that, I’m off to tickle my iPhone some more. He loves it when I stroke his screen.
