Hi Andy,

Eventually my box was sorted when an engineer was sent out - it took about 3 more weeks and ten more phone calls to get there, but it's working now!

Thanks for posting this info - that's an expensive issue for sky, I make it £2.6 million in HD subs alone before you even count the cost of the new boxes!

My box is an amstrad so I'm not affected by this issue, thankfully.

Cheers,

Ben

Thousands of 'digi' boxes replaced
17/2/2009 19:07:23

Thousands of television viewers will have to replace their digital boxes after a technical fault was discovered, BSkyB has said.

About one in ten Sky+ high definition customers are believed to be affected by the fault, which was discovered in the first batch from West Yorkshire-based manufacturer Pace.

All customers with the faulty boxes will receive a new one within three months. They will also be given three months' free subscription, worth £29.25, as compensation, the company said.

The problem with the boxes relates to the quality of connections in the internal cabling and has been rectified by Pace in later batches.

A statement on the Sky website said: "The assembly flaw does not involve a faulty component, such as a hard drive, or a software problem.

"Importantly, Pace has confirmed that the assembly flaw does not pose a safety risk.

"The box can continue to be used in the normal way, as installed by a Sky engineer, until we come to replace it."

The 90,000 boxes in the affected batch from Pace are model numbers 9F3001, 9F3002, 9F3003 and 9F3004

I'd be interested in heaing if yours was ever sorted

Cheers again for now

Hi.

I may have got this wrong but I think you are in the Bristol area?

Im trying to organise a show with a friend and a third person at Photographique in Bristol.

If you are at all interested, please message me. I have advertised on a Holga forum, a "Lo Fi Camera" forum and a Lomo forum without reply so far.

Cheers.
